Certificate Verification Policy

Last Updated: April 2026

TL;DR

LinguaPath certificates are proof of course completion, not official qualifications. Each certificate has a unique ID that can be verified publicly. Certificates can be revoked for cheating or chargebacks.

1. Certificate Issuance

LinguaPath certificates are issued automatically when you pass a level assessment with a score of 80% or higher. Certificates are:

  • Generated instantly upon successful assessment completion
  • Available as downloadable PDF documents
  • Assigned a unique verification ID (UUID)
  • Recorded permanently in our system for verification

2. What Certificates Represent

LinguaPath certificates prove that you:

  • Completed the LinguaPath course for a specific CEFR level
  • Passed the assessment with a score of 80% or higher
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the material covered in that level

LinguaPath certificates are NOT:

  • Official language proficiency certifications
  • Equivalent to IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge English, or other accredited examinations
  • Recognised qualifications for immigration, university admission, or employment requirements
  • Proof of real-world language ability (only course completion)

3. Certificate Verification

Anyone can verify the authenticity of a LinguaPath certificate using the verification page at /verify/[certificate-id].

The public verification page displays:

  • Student name (first name and last initial only for privacy)
  • CEFR level achieved
  • Assessment score
  • Date of issue
  • Certificate status (Valid, Revoked, or Not Found)

4. Certificate Revocation

LinguaPath reserves the right to revoke certificates in the following circumstances:

  • Cheating: If we determine that the assessment was completed using prohibited assistance (sharing answers, using external tools, having someone else take the test)
  • Chargebacks: If you dispute the payment with your bank instead of contacting us, all certificates associated with that purchase will be revoked
  • Terms Violation: Serious violations of our Terms of Service
  • Fraudulent Activity: If the account was created or used fraudulently

Revoked certificates will display a "Revoked" status on the public verification page with the date of revocation.

5. Certificate Data & Privacy

  • Your full name is only visible on the PDF certificate you download
  • The public verification page shows only your first name and last initial
  • Certificates are retained indefinitely unless you request deletion
  • If you delete your account, you can choose to retain or delete your certificates

6. Using Your Certificate

You may use your LinguaPath certificate to:

  • Demonstrate personal achievement and commitment to learning
  • Add to your portfolio or CV as evidence of self-directed learning
  • Share on social media or professional networks (LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Provide to employers as supplementary evidence of English study

Important: Always be honest about what the certificate represents. Do not claim it is an official language qualification or equivalent to accredited tests.

7. Disputes & Appeals

If you believe your certificate was revoked in error, you may appeal by contacting support@linguapath.co.uk within 30 days of revocation.

Appeals are reviewed at LinguaPath's discretion. We may request additional information or evidence to support your case.
